“Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten”

In purchasing new cabinetry, you know that you are making a great long term investment in your home. The process can be very exciting. There are some key questions that you will want to ask to make sure you get the most out of what are paying for. When working with a designer, check to see if they offer professional installation - and make sure that their sub-contractors or in-house labor is fully insured. If you choose to hire your own contractor, it is always best to get insurance information, references and contractor's license numbers (if applicable in your state) at the same time you are requesting a quote. By getting this basic information up front, you are protecting your investment. So have fun and be smart when buying your new kitchen!

D and D Cabinets, Inc. has partnerships with Designers, Decorators, Contractors, and Appliance shops in most areas of the state. We recommend working with one of our trusted partners to get your job done right.

Frequently Asked Questions

I want to remodel my kitchen, but I’m not sure where to begin. Where should I start?

This is a great question, but before this question can be answered, you will want to decide on the following;

  1. You want to replace your existing cabinetry and countertops in the same area that you have now?

  2. You want to replace your existing cabinetry and countertops, AND you want to add additional cabinets to your space or have a completely different kitchen layout that you have now?

  3. You want to replace your existing cabinetry and countertops, AND you want to convert the dining room space into the kitchen; new flooring, wallpaper, maybe a wall removed, etc.

Here is a list of other questions that you may have.

What if I change my mind before I come back in and I want a larger kitchen than I have now?

All I want to do is replace my pre-existing cabinets with new ones. How do I go about doing this?

Many of our customers like to come in first, meet with our designers, and then get a feel for the products we provide. We then obtain all of your information such as address and phone number, and schedule a time with you to come and perform a free in-home measure. Once this is done, our designers will come back to the showroom and design your kitchen to best fit your needs. This is done normally within forty eight hours of initial measuring. After the design is complete, the designer will call you to set up an appointment for you to come back to our showroom to go over all of the specifics concerning; layout, appliances, cabinet wood species, door and drawer head styles, stains, countertop surfaces, hardware selections, delivery and installation. Until you are ready to sign a “Showroom Purchase Agreement”, all of these services are free.

What if I change my mind before I come back in and I want a larger kitchen than I have now?

Not a problem. As long as your kitchen has not been ordered, our designer will already have all of your wall dimensions and he / she can redesign your kitchen right in front of you.

If I change my mind at the last minute, will my decisions affect other aspects of my kitchen?

Possibly. Here is an example;

Let’s say that you want to add some utility closets, and some extra base cabinets to increase the size of your kitchen. We can do this however, it may affect your flooring, ceiling, maybe a base board heater will need to be moved, and so forth. So, depending on what you want added, it could affect other aspects of the kitchen.

Do you have in-house people that do plumbing, electrical, sheetrock work, maybe flooring? Or do I have to find my own subcontractors to do all of this?

This is a very popular question. D&D Cabinets Inc. only hires subcontracted labor to provide cabinet and countertop installations. However, if you need all of your plumbing disconnected and reconnected, any electrical lines moved or updated, a baseboard heater moved, your cabinets ripped out, etc., we network with a myriad of insured, qualified individuals that we can connect you with to help take the pre-screening guesswork out of your project. You will deal directly with these individuals, so that you can be certain you are getting the best price around.

What do I need to have with me when I come back before I place my final order?

The most important thing to remember to bring with you before we place your final order are your appliances dimensions. Without them, we cannot place your cabinet order. Another thing to bring with you is your “Wish List”. This can be any magazine clippings, competitors’ cabinet brochures, photographs, or even your own sketches of what you would like. Our designers will go over everything with you to design the kitchen that best suites your style and tastes.

What if I want to add an addition to my house to increase the size of my kitchen, do I have to find my own general contractor?

No. D&D Cabinets has created a full scale remodeling program for its valued customers by prescreening full scale Remodelers across the state of NH. They can handle all of these types of larger projects, and they will be the General Contractor through-out the project. We have also added Interior Designers to our remodeling program, as an added value to you. You can learn more about our networking program by going to our “Partners” tab and finding a Remodeler and Interior Designer in your area.

What is the process if I want to put on an addition and increase my kitchen space?

First you would contact the prescreened Remodeler and / or Interior Designer in your area to come to your home for a consultation. After this initial consultation, they will give you a quote (usually within 5 business days) for what the cost will be for the amount of the entire project. Once you receive the quote, you can either opt to go with our prescreened partners, or opt to find your own general contractor. You have the flexibility of going down either road. After you have decided on what you want for an addition, our designer will sit down with both you and the Remodeler (and Interior Designer if need be) to go over all of the details.

Who will install my cabinetry?

This is up to you. D&D Cabinets partners with highly qualified subcontractors that install kitchen cabinetry across New England. If this is a service that you would like quoted, just ask your designer at the time of the initial order. You do not need to feel obligated to purchase this service however kitchen cabinetry should be installed by a skilled craftsperson that has a company registered with the state and has liability insurance.

What if I don’t have time to come in, and I just want a quick quote, can you still do this for me?

Yes. However, we will need to know the following *information; *Please feel free to download this “Questionnaire” in Excel, fill out the form with the graph sheet below, and fax it back to D&D Cabinets Inc.

  1. We will need an overall dimension of your pre-existing room that you are putting cabinetry into, along with a rough layout of what you have now. (Please feel free to download our “Graph Sheet” to draw all of this information onto.)
  2. We will need an exact centerline of the window from either a left or right wall. (Find the overall center of the window, and then with a tape measure, measure from the wall to this center point.)
  3. We will need to know your floor to ceiling dimensions.
  4. We will need to know what type of floor you have currently, and if you are keeping the same floor.
  5. We need to know if you are keeping the same appliances, and if not, what the exact new sizes are going to be. (Without this information, it is more difficult to get an accurate quote.)
  6. We need to know what *style of wood you like. *Please feel free to visit our manufacturers’ websites for further information concerning these woods.
  7. We need to know if you want a particular stain and glaze.
  8. What door style would you like?
  9. What type of door overlay would you like?
  10. What type of moldings would you like?
  11. What type of countertops would you like?
  12. What color (if this is known) of countertop would you like?
  13. Would you like a cabinet installation through D&D Cabinets?
  14. Would you like your kitchen delivered to your house?

Once we have all of this pertinent information, we will then be able to give you a much more accurate preliminary quote.

Once I place my order, how long will it be before my cabinets come in?

This is a great question, but it all depends on the particular cabinet manufacturer. Some manufacturers have a three week lead time whereas others have a twelve to fourteen week lead time, and everything in between. We will give you a rough idea of when your cabinetry will come in, but you should allocate at least a one week grace period for the projected ship date.
